In March-April 2023, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the National Enterprise Corporation in Uganda, thanks to an invitation from the Pavo Group executives. While many details of the project remain confidential, I'm excited to share a glimpse of my experiences and contributions during this impactful collaboration.

As a junior associate, one of the most enriching experiences I had during my time in Uganda was the opportunity to interact closely with high-level decision-makers. This included not only C-level executives but also lieutenant generals.

Being in the same room with such influential corporate and military figures provided me with a unique perspective and significantly honed my skills in decision-making during meetings. Although I didn't have the authority to make final decisions, observing and participating in these real-life high-level international discussions was an unparalleled learning experience that greatly enhanced my understanding of strategic planning and negotiation at the highest level. In addition to participating in the meetings, I had the opportunity to be involved in the MOU and NDA procedures, where I played an active role in ensuring the process ran smoothly.

Another fascinating aspect of my experience in Uganda was the exposure to diplomatic engagements. We had the privilege of visiting the Turkish Consulate, where we discussed the details of our meetings over traditional Turkish coffee with Ambassador Fatih Ak and Commercial Counsellor Erhan Gokce. This experience not only expanded my understanding of diplomacy but also provided valuable insights into the cultural nuances of international business interactions.

To add, one of the significant aspects of my experience in Uganda was expanding my professional network. While I pride myself on my ability to build and maintain relationships, my time in Uganda offered a unique opportunity to cultivate connections on a different level. As representatives of our group, we had the honor of meeting Her Excellency, as well as the Honorable Dickson. Honorable Dickson later hosted us at his Safari complex, where we had the extraordinary opportunity to go on a safari, an experience unlike any other.

During my two-week stay in Uganda, I had the opportunity to gain experiences that many of my peers might encounter years later. Not only was it educational, but it was also a truly enjoyable trip. Once again, I discovered my passion for international environments and involvement in the decision-making process.
